Răzvan Neagoe is a Romanian artist, member of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania. The artistic genres in which he expresses himself are: photography, painting, object, collage, performance, installation, landart and new media, developing projects with a social, architectural and recovery of classical works. In the early 2000s, he was part of the ECCO group as a founding member. Since 2006, he has been present with Alina Tudor – the focAR group – in several large-scale projects, and between 2019 and 2022 he was part of the STUP artistic community. During 2006-2009 he was involved in the public and community art projects I LOVE BUCHAREST. During the same period, together with Alina Tudor made several highlighting actions as Urban RED SPOT project or stART Dambovita. Since 2024 it has been in collaboration with the Ars Monitor gallery.
From 2020, every summer he creates an “art residency by himself” as a natural consequence of the feeling of limitation of freedom felt that year due to the pandemic. The changes produced in society, but especially by the pandemic, made this “return to the country” produce a real “revolution” towards escape. The project is not a return to time, but rather a recovery and fruition of what is left. From 2022 is the initiator of the photographic collaborative project “OVERLAYS“. “Overlays” starts from the premise of an experiment that has at its core the double exposure technique: a photographer is invited to “consume” a pre-set film, to send it on to another photographer, who will compositionally build over the exposed film with the latent images of the first. “Starting from the idea that photography is the meeting place of some concepts with reality, I thought of a series of dialogues / conversations between artists, guided by the photographic technique itself. This type of experiment offers a different perspective on one’s own themes and searches by juxtaposing with those of the other artists involved in the project, formulating in this way new visions on old themes or déjà explored by each until this moment. This can be the point where other concepts and other representations are born.”- Razvan Neagoe
